Think you’ve got what it takes to be a Vegas performer? Lots of people dream of making it big in show business, but many don’t know how to go about doing it. Now, with the help of a couple of unique classes, you’ve got a chance to find out about the entertainment business and learn some new skills that just might land you in the spotlight one day.
A new session of Bonkerz comedy classes begins October 24 at Palace Station.
Cliff Lawrence, comedian and comedy writer, will teach the aspiring comedians in the class. Throughout his career, Lawrence has headlined in casinos in Las Vegas and Atlantic City as well as toured with legends such as Marty Allen, Rich Little and George Burns.
The classes will let each comic focus on his or her own stand-up material and teach techniques to hone their skills, such as help with timing, delivery and working the crowd.
Bonkerz Comedy School is $275 per student for the four-week course and includes two complimentary tickets to each 8 p.m. Saturday show at Bonkerz Comedy Club during the course. To register for the class, please call (866) 414-2665. Students and guests must be 21 years and older.

If you have dreams of being a magician on stage in your own theater like Steve Wyrick, then you’ll want to check out his Magic Academy. At the academy you’ll take a backstage tour of Wyrick’s set and see some of the everyday objects he uses to create magic.
You’ll also learn 25 new tricks taught by a master magician, trained by Wyrick. All of the tricks are part of the Wyrick Magic Academy magic kit that you’ll get to take home after the three-hour experience. Some of the illusions included in the magic kit are: 5-inch stainless steel ring set, plastic cup and balls set, penna coin, a book of rope tricks, 9-inch silk, mind control, floating card trick, sponge balls, and a Svengali deck.
Adult supervision is not required, but you must be at least 8 years old to attend. If a parent or guardian would like to accompany their child, there is a $25 fee for a “parent pass.”
The Wyrick Magic Academy is a unique opportunity to get some insight into what it takes to be a headlining magician in Vegas and to learn a few party tricks.
The class, located at Planet Hollywood, costs $150 and includes instruction, the magic kit, the backstage tour, a certificate of completion and a bottle of water.
