Though prop comic Carrot Top’s shtick is all about being silly, juvenile diabetes is a cause he takes quite seriously.

“A very good friend of mine has a child diagnosed with diabetes and he’s been educating me on what a widespread problem this has become,” said Scott ‘Carrot Top’ Thompson. 

While the Nevada Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) will walk to help cure diabetes later this month, Carrot Top hopes to help cure the disease by making audiences laugh. On Friday, Nov. 6, a portion of proceeds from Carrot Top’s 8:30 p.m. show at The Luxor will be donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).

“We decided to put this night together because I want to help in any way I can,” he said. “There can never be enough money raised and a cure won’t happen overnight. We want to raise awareness more than anything.”

The annual Walk to Cure Diabetes takes place on Saturday, Nov. 14 at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. Entertainment, food, activities and more will follow. For more information, or to register to walk and help the organization exeed its $600,000 goal, visit the JDRF web site at www.jdrf.org.
